Chairmen’s Forum of the PwC-ESADE Social Leadership programme Chairmen’s Forum of the PwC-ESADE Social Leadership programme

The “Chairmen’s Forum”, third meeting of the 7th edition of the Social Leadership Programme of the PwC Foundation and Institute for Social Innovation of ESADE, took place in Madrid on 27 May.

The meeting, devoted to “Contribution by Government Bodies to the definition of the organisation’s vision and strategy”, aimed to create a space for reflection and discussion for the heads of the governing bodies of the non-profit entities participating in this programme. The session speaker was Ignasi Carreras, director of the programme and of the ESADE Institute for Social Innovation. Pedro Alberto Gómez, responsible for Innovation at PwC, was also a speaker on how to encourage NGOs to innovate.

National Start-up Programme Competition National Start-up Programme Competition

The final session of the National Start-up Programme Competition was held in the Rafael del Pino Foundation on 21st May. The jury, presided over by the President of the PwC Foundation, Enrique Fernández-Miranda, has awarded the National Start-up Programme Competition prize to CtOS Enabler, a cloud service which facilitates integration of geolocation in mobile applications. This project has also received the Special PwC Prize which is awarded to the project with the greatest potential for growth in global markets. In addition to receiving Euros 1,000 in prize money, the recipient of the Special PwC Prize receives a consultancy session with the participation of PwC experts of various areas.

The PwC Foundation has opened up a channel for collaboration with Caritas and Cruz Roja so that all PwC staff and former staff can send a donation to the charities to collaborate with their field work.

Visit of students from the Special Education Centre of the Down Syndrome Foundation

In collaboration with the Down Syndrome Foundation, students of the Foundation’s Special Education Centre visited PwC on Thursday, 23rd April to find out what a working day was like in PwC. The President of the PwC Foundation, Enrique Fernandez-Miranda, welcomed the students and PwC staff explained exactly what their work for the firm entailed.

Ideas with Value

Ideas with ValueOn Tuesday 21st April, together with the Hazloposible Foundation the PwC Foundation organised the second edition of Ideas with value, a professional volunteering initiative involving many businesses with the aim of collaborating together to solve a challenge proposed by a NGO. This year it was Ashoka, the biggest social entrepreneurship network, which shared a challenge: it wanted to increase the number of nominators it obtained via its own channels. Thanks to the involvement of directors of, amongst others, Banco Santander, Reale Seguros, BT, BBVA, University of Alcalá, PwC, VIPS and Burson-Marsteller, various proposals were put forward to solve this challenge.

Third Start-up Programme session

Third Start-up Programme sessionPwC held the 3rd Start-up Programme session in the training rooms of the firm’s offices in Madrid on Thursday, 16th April. This initiative is part of the corporate volunteering programmes of the PwC Foundation in collaboration with the Junior Achievement Foundation and in support of university entrepreneurship. On this occasion we had the participation of experts of the Spanish Venture Capital Association (the ASCRI) and persons of PwC specialised in our different areas: on legal matters, Macarena Plaza, senior associate of PwC, on tax matters, Carmen Rodríguez Gil, director of PwC’s tax services, and regarding entrepreneurship and high potentiality, Alberto Tornero, director of the Businesses with High Potential area of PwC in Spain, who analysed the main trends and key factors to make Start-ups’ business plans more realistic.

Leadership Forum of the PwC/ESADE Social Leadership Programme

Foro de Liderazgo “Programa PwC-ESADE de Liderazgo Social”The 14th Leadership Forum of the PwC/ESADE Social Leadership Programme organised by the Social Innovation Institute was held on 15th April with the support of the PwC Foundation. This year the focus has been on the challenge of NGOs/High-Impact Businesses collaborations. NGO directors participating in the PwC/ESADE Social Leadership Programme attended the forum. Pierre Buffet of PwC addressed the persons who attended to welcome them to the forum and to present the report “More social value in 2033. New opportunities for businesses”. Three directors also participated in the event to give their most prominent and innovative experiences of collaboration between NGOs and businesses: Gonzalo Sales of Ferrovial presented his Social Infrastructures Programme, Txema Franco explained the BBK Bilbao Good Hostel, and Victor Viñuales of ECODES put forward the initiative "Saragossa, water-saving city". In addition Anthony Silard, international teacher, gave the final session of the day centring on Collaborative Leadership and Emotional Skills for Effective Leaders, which gave some ideas on how to create partnerships with the private sector and increase revenue.

Session to outline the Impulsa Programme

Sesión Orientativa del Programa ImpulsaA session was held in the training rooms of the PwC Tower on 13th April to give PwC’s staff an outline of the Impulsa Programme, an initiative of the PwC Foundation which enables staff to do an international corporate volunteering programme in certain areas of the world affected by poverty.

In this session, we learned of the projects involved in the call this year directly from the persons in charge of corporate volunteering programmes of the NGOs which present the projects: Ayuda en Acción, Cruz Roja Española, Paz y Desarrollo, and Sembrando Salud.

Presentation of the report "Más Valor Social in 2033"

Más Valor Social en 2033On Thursday March 26 has been held the presentation of the report "Más Social in 2033, new opportunities for companies" in the Torre de Cristal by PwC Foundation in partnership with Ashoka.

What are the social challenges that Spain will face in the future? And how can we answer them to create value? The public-private-third sector collaboration is the solution for the future. The report "Más Valor Social in 2033, new Opportunities for Business" analyzes the key to generating projects and achieve shared social value chains succeed aspects and give effective response to the needs of all parties.

50 Galician social entities will receive financial aid within the 2015 programme "Más Social"

Más Social 2015On March 18, at the headquarters of the Barrie Foundation in A Coruña, fifty Galician social entities were introduced. They will receive economic assistance within the 2015 programme Más Social, a programme of PwC in collaboration with the Barrie Foundation, helps the Galician social entities into an economically sustainable professional leadership and management.

Sponsor Programme

Programa ApadrinaPwC Foundation has launched the "Sponsor Programme: You propose, we choose" to promote social engagement of PwC professional. Each professional will present his social NGO project. PwC professionals will vote among the projects for PwC Foundation and the top rated will earn a donation of 30.000 €, 20.000 € and € 10.000 euros.

StartUp Programme Second sessionOn Thursday February 5th, Second workshop session of StartUp Programme was held. This time we have the participation of our specialists at PwC ; Estíbaliz Perez Aramburu in finance and Pierre Buffet in strategy, which could outline the most important aspects to consider in these areas when conducting a business plan . After the theoretical session, volunteers supported the university entrepreneurs performing the "Crash test", to answer some of the questions that every entrepreneur must be done before realizing his project .

This Friday night the Citizen Award Association celebrated its 2012 YEAR END GALA during which it celebrated both its 10 anniversary and a new edition of the event with the new award winners.

The chairman of the PwC Foundation, Enrique Fernández Miranda, also received an award from the director general of the ONCE, José Luis Martínez Donoso, in recognition of its commitment to society, through its programmes and actions promoting and financing social, cultural, academic and educational activities.
